The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA), representing more than 217,000 registered nurses in Pennsylvania, announced its 2017 board of directors following its December 9, 2016 general business meeting.
President: Mark C. Crider, PhD, MSN, RN
Dr. Mark Crider is the Assistant Dean for Administration & Special Projects and Director of the Veterans to BSN (VBSN) Program, Duquesne University School of Nursing. Prior to his current position as assistant dean, Dr. Crider served as Duquesne’s SON chair of undergraduate programs.
Treasurer: Wayne Reich, RN, BSN
Reich is a clinical instructor with Pennsylvania College of Technology. He is currently enrolled in the MSN/ MBA program at Bloomsburg University. Reich has held many positions in PSNA, including: assistant treasurer, PSNA-PAC; Pennsylvania Delegate, ANA House of Delegates; President, PSNA District 27; and PSNA Staff.
Secretary: Ellen Schauerman, BSN, RNC-NIC
Schauerman is a senior professional staff nurse with UPMC Hamot. Her leadership skills include: charge nurse, NICU; simulation lab instructor; NICU transport; and Northwest Regional Coalition, PA Action Coalition. Schauerman served as PSNA Board Secretary in 2015-2016.

Tamra Lynn Minton, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, MBA
Minton is CNO, vice president of patient care services for UPMC East. Minton has more than 35 years of diverse nursing practice experience. She earned her MSN in administration from Waynesburg University in 2007.
Kathryn Shaffer, EdD, RN, MSN, CNE
Dr. Shaffer is associate dean of strategic initiatives and innovation at Thomas Jefferson University, College of Medicine. As an educator for more than 10 years, she is responsible for teaching students to advocate on behalf of their patients, themselves, and their profession. In 2015, Dr. Shaffer was awarded the AACN Leadership for Academic Nursing Program Fellow.
