WITF is hosting a Season 12 preview screening and vintage Baby Shower at the WITF Public Media Center on Sunday, March 5 from 2:00 – 4:30pm!
A special pre-screening reception begins at 2:00 pm, with the screening beginning at 3:30 pm. Reception guests will enjoy a build-your-own “Mom-osa” bar (non-alcoholic options will be provided), a buffet filled with traditional baby shower food, and games with prizes.
We encourage everyone to come dressed in their 1960s best or wearing a burgundy sweater to show their love of the series and midwifery!
During the screening event, we will collect donated items to support new moms through The Stork’s Landing at UPMC Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialists – North Harrisburg. Suggested donations include diapers, baby onesies and clothing, socks, booties, and baby shampoo.

The presentation will address what human trafficking is, including the various forms it takes, how to identify and support possible victims, what their physical and behavioral needs are, and what resources are available to help survivors. Afterward, there will be a brief Q & A session.

About the presenter: Dr. Donna Sabella is the Executive Director of Delaware’s Anti-Trafficking Action Council and a board-certified psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner. She holds a BA from Indiana University in Portuguese, a BSN from Thomas Jefferson University, an M.Ed. from Temple University in ESL, an MSN from Widener University, a post master’s certificate from Penn’s School of Nursing, and a PhD from Penn’s Graduate School of Education.
She is the founder and served as the contributing editor for the American Journal of Nursing’s Mental Health Matters column and is also the co-founder and an associate editor for the Journal of Human Trafficking. A former Program Director and a founding member of Dawn’s Place, a residential recovery program for trafficked and prostituted women in Philadelphia, she also counseled women incarcerated in the Philadelphia Prison System for prostitution through her Project Phoenix Program, where she worked collaboratively with the Defender Association of Philadelphia. She is the former Seedworks Endowed Associate Professor of Nursing and Social Justice at UMass Amherst’s College of Nursing, and former Director of Global Studies at Drexel’s College of Nursing and Health Professions where she also served as the Director of the Office of Human Trafficking. She was the track director for the graduate psych NP program at the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences after which she taught at UPenn’s SON as a practice professor before being appointed to the position in Delaware.
She has decades of teaching experience and experience working in crisis intervention, substance abuse, domestic violence, and forensic nursing. She has numerous publications and presentations related to human trafficking as well as mental health. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), the American Correctional Association (ACA), and a founding and executive member of the Global Association of Human Trafficking Scholars (GAHTS).

The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) will hold its annual Legislative Day on Monday, May 1, 2023 in Harrisburg. Nurses and students are invited to join us as we advocate for the profession and our patients in Pennsylvania. Click here to see all of PSNA’s legislative initiatives.
PSNA’s Legislative Day is an important and informative day for nurses in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, nurses are under-represented in our state’s legislature. Although we are the largest group of healthcare providers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, only two members of the General Assembly are RNs. Therefore, it is our responsibility and privilege to share our knowledge and expertise with local officials.
Legislative Day will begin with refreshments and presentations from PSNA staff and Pennsylvania leaders at Temple University Harrisburg. Attendees will then walk to the Capital to conduct pre-assigned meetings with legislators. From there, we will reconvene as a group to greet and promote the Patient Safety Act to officials as they enter the Senate floor. Attendees will have lunch on their own and are invited to return to the Capital for a guided tour before ending the day.
