In this month’s Coffee and Connect, Sarah Simons from the American Nurses Association (ANA) will provide an overview of the accomplishments of ANA’s Inaugural Commission to Address Racism in Nursing and where the Commission’s work is headed in 2023-2024. Within the context of ANA’s work, Sarah’s presentation will define racism, how to address racism and provide ways and resources to be anti-racist.
About the presenter: Sarah Simons, MSW, is ANA’s Special Initiatives Program Manager. Before coming to ANA she worked for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, managing funding for harm reduction and HIV programs and serving on the divisional action team to address racism as part of DOHMH’s Race to Justice initiative. Sarah is married to a nurse midwife and is passionate about public health and racial justice.
