
Pennsylvania legislators are making important policy decisions about health care, and those decisions affect your ability to practice as a nurse and to provide health care services to your patients. Shirley McCormick from the League of Women Voters of the Harrisburg Area will join PSNA to discuss all things voting. Just ahead of the General Primary Election, this presentation will cover the importance of voting, why you should vote, and how to choose the right candidate for your values and views.
About the presenter: Shirley McCormick is the immediate past President of the League of Women Voters of the Harrisburg Area. Ms. McCormick received a BS degree in Accounting from York College of Pennsylvania and obtained a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification. She worked in various capacities for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of the Budget, Comptroller Operations for 33 years before retiring in 2004. Since retirement, Ms. McCormick has volunteered and served on the Board of many non-profit organizations and was also the State Secretary of the PA Association of Retired State Employees (PARSE). Currently, she volunteers as a docent at Wheatland, President James Buchanan’s home in Lancaster. She resides in Lancaster with her husband, Nelson, and dog, Bria.
