PSNA District 2 Events in Reading

PSNA applauds PSNA District 2’s (Schuylkill, Berks, Lehigh, Carbon, Northampton, Monroe) successful “Back to School” drive. District 2 placed a donation box at The Works of Wyomissing and collected supplies for grades K-6. They were able to donate 23 backpacks filled with supplies – crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, pencils, glue sticks, scissors, etc. – to Opportunity House in Reading, PA.

Opportunity House serves homeless women and children in the Reading area. District 2 was grateful for the opportunity to make a difference to the children as they started their school year. Opportunity House sent the following letter to the members of District 2 and to all those who donated:

Dear PSNA District 2, Thank you for thinking of our kids in the shelter with new “back to school” items! Our kids are so thrilled with their new backpacks and school supplies. It makes living in a shelter much better when the kids have something new and important for the first day of school. Thanks again for your kindness! Sincerely, Modesta Fiume

In addition, several District 2 members volunteered on Sunday, Oct. 18 at the Reading Hospital Road Run to promote healthy activity and increase the awareness of PSNA in Berks and surrounding counties. The proceeds from the benefit help fund The Friends of Reading Hospital program.
