Safe Nurse Staffing Town Hall

On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, professional nurses, nursing students, and the community are invited to attend the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) Town Hall meeting to discuss safe nurse staffing concerns and legislation affecting Pennsylvania’s nurses and patients. The Town Hall meeting will be held at Hollidaysburg Area High School, 1510 N Montgomery St, Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania 16648. This event will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Pennsylvania patients are suffering the consequences of chronic, unsafe staffing levels. A legislative solution can no longer be postponed. Pennsylvania State Representative Judy Ward (R-80) – both a safe staffing legislation prime sponsor and registered nurse – will be present at this meeting. HB 2092, Safe Nurse Staffing, empowers nurses to create patient-safety staffing plans aimed at reducing medical errors, saving lives, and confronting chronic burnout by nursing professionals. A question and answer period will be included.

“PSNA looks forward to the open dialogue the Town Hall creates,” said PSNA Chief Executive Officer Betsy M. Snook, MEd, BSN, RN. “Face-to-face communication allows us to better understand nurses’ needs and effectively advocate for the profession.”
