YES! The Nurse Licensure Compact takes effect in less than two weeks

Finally, we have a date!

Starting July 7, the Nurse Licensure Compact takes effect in Pennsylvania. PSNA has been among the strongest advocates for this compact on behalf of our members and all nurses.

The Governor Shapiro administration announced the upcoming full implementation yesterday. In addition to the Nurse Licensure Compact, full implementation also begins on July 7 for the Physical Therapy Compact and the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact.

The Governor’s statement noted the continuous work involved in finalizing these compacts, and that “We have listened to the calls from our nurses and lawmakers.” PSNA nurses and friends, that includes YOU! We thank you for supporting our relentless advocacy efforts.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said PSNA CEO Wayne Reich, MSN, MBA, RN. “The Nurse Licensure Compact legislation passed in July 2021, with PSNA as a prime supporter. Since then, we have worked tirelessly to ensure the approval of regulations and processes that would enable full implementation.”

“What a great victory for nurses in Pennsylvania!”
