Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Past President Receives AJN Book of the Year Award
Harrisburg, PA, March 3, 2023 – The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA), representing more than 228,000 registered nurses in Pennsylvania, is pleased to share long time member Margarete L. Zalon, PhD, RN, ACNS-BC, FAAN, has received the 2022 American Journal of Nursing (AJN) Book of the Year Award for 2nd place in the Nursing Management and Leadership category for her publication, Nurses Making Policy: From Bedside to Boardroom (3rd ed.).
Zalon is a past President of the PSNA Board of Directors and current President of PSNA’s charitable organization, the Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania (NFP). Her book helps nurses to take a more prominent advocacy role in promoting health and advancing the profession. In part of the commitment to advancing nurses’ roles in policy, all the editors’ royalties have been donated to the Washington Nurse Fellowship Fund at the American Nurses Foundation to facilitate nurses’ participation at the highest policymaking tables.
