Patient Safety Authority - Long-Term Care Emergency Preparedness Educational Series: Evaluate to Improve

Long-Term Care Emergency Preparedness Educational Series

The Patient Safety Authority (PSA) is starting a 12-month long-term care emergency preparedness educational series, as identified by respondents of the 2020 PA LTCF annual survey.

Pennsylvania is vulnerable to multiple threats and hazards, including severe weather, hazardous materials spill, active shooter, terrorism, and infectious disease outbreak. While each of these threats is itself a problem, they may also disrupt power, telephone, and potable water delivery, as well as access to provisions such as food, staffing, medical supplies, and gasoline—making disaster preparedness critical to the safety of long-term care facilities.

This series aims to provide resources for facilities to develop their emergency preparedness plan to protect the lives and property of residents, staff, and visitors.

Legislative Day @ Temple University Harrisburg / Harrisburg Capital Complex
May 1 @ 8:00 am – 2:30 pm

The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) will hold its annual Legislative Day on Monday, May 1, 2023 in Harrisburg. Nurses and students are invited to join us as we advocate for the profession and our patients in Pennsylvania. Click here to see all of PSNA’s legislative initiatives.

PSNA’s Legislative Day is an important and informative day for nurses in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, nurses are under-represented in our state’s legislature. Although we are the largest group of healthcare providers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, only two members of the General Assembly are RNs. Therefore, it is our responsibility and privilege to share our knowledge and expertise with local officials.

Legislative Day will begin with refreshments and presentations from PSNA staff and Pennsylvania leaders at Temple University Harrisburg. Attendees will then walk to the Capital to conduct pre-assigned meetings with legislators. From there, we will reconvene as a group to greet and promote the Patient Safety Act to officials as they enter the Senate floor. Attendees will have lunch on their own and are invited to return to the Capital for a guided tour before ending the day.

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Registration closes Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

Cost

  • Free / PSNA members
  • $10 / Non-members
  • $5 / Non-licensed nursing students
