The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) will host “Understanding of the Care of the LGBTQI Patient” webinar on May 15 from 3 – 4:30 pm. This activity awards 1.5 CNE. The webinar presenter is Lorraine Bock, DNP, FNP-C, ENP-C, FAANP. Dr. Bock is the health center coordinator at Alder Health Services in Harrisburg. As a national speaker and healthcare provider, she has worked with the LGBTQI community for more than 15 years. Dr. Bock received her NP education at the University of Pennsylvania and earned her doctorate at Robert Morris University, Pittsburgh. She is dually boarded in family and emergency medicine. She is the immediate past president of the PA Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and has worked tirelessly to improve the practice environment for nurses and NPs in PA. As you know we have significant problems, the spread of a virus for which there is no vaccine or specific, effective treatment, concern about testing, the proper distribution of essential equipment and supplies, and the impact on the economy of stay at home policies and the closure of businesses. Vulnerable people are more at risk of infection but also of significant economic hardship. Even in good times, we all know people who are working several minimum wage jobs and struggle between paychecks.
Mindful of the theme of McGinley-Rice 11: The Face of the Person who is Hungry, we are compiling a list of sources of food available in the greater Pittsburgh area.

The McGinley-Rice Symposium on Justice for Vulnerable Populations is a unique scholarly forum for nurses and other health care professionals to address issues of social justice in health care. Organized annually by the holder of the Jacques Laval Endowed Chair in Justice for Vulnerable Populations at the Duquesne University School of Nursing, the McGinley-Rice Symposium is an expression of the mission of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, the Catholic missionary order that founded Duquesne and assists needy and marginalized persons throughout the world.
